    Solo Stove Bonfire

    April 21, 2020

I’ve been known to dabble with fire from time to time. There is something primitive and relaxing about listening to a wood fire crackle and pop while the smell of oak or almond fill the air. Like most, I long for sitting by a campfire with my favorite stogie and beverage by my side. But, when you’re sitting at home… how do you transform your backyard into a campground? Today’s your lucky day! Pull up a chair and let me introduce you to the Solo Stove Bonfire!

    Meet the Solo Stove Bonfire

Solo Stove has a number of smokeless burning options for you to select from. Of these options, the Bonfire in my opinion is the most versatile of the group. It’s not too big and it’s not too small, but it can do everything you need an more! First off… the Bonfire is made of 304 Stainless Steel and weighs 20lbs. The circular design evenly distributes heat to anyone that gathers around it. It’s an amazing piece of engineering and technology. Which leads me to our next point…

    How does it work?

The main draw for the Solo Stove Bonfire is that it doesn’t require any fuel. All you need to light up a cozy fire is old fashioned firewood. And no, I’m not talking about the stuff you get at the grocery store! Do yourself a favor and locate a lumber yard near you. I recommend Dave Shultz Firewood in Irvine. They offer eucalyptus, almond and oak for pickup or delivery. My personal favorite is almond wood to cook with and oak for its ability to burn for hours and aroma factor.

    • Start with a nice hot fire with plenty of wood for cooking…
    • You want the flames to burnout…
    • Burning ash is great for a slow burn heat.
    • Leaving you with bright orange embers. Now it’s time to cook!

Now that you’re armed with real firewood let’s appreciate the technology at play here. Let’s take a look at how the Bonfire is capable of creating a smokeless burn utilizing airflow.

Placing wood on an elevated platform which houses an ash pan with holes to allow oxygen to pull air from the bottom vent holes and sends the preheated air through the vent holes at the top of the burn chamber. This is what allows for a secondary combustion process that locks in the fire and creates a clean burn with zero smoke. It is the secondary burn that results in a complete combustion and hotter fire. To complete the experience a fire ring is included that sits atop the fire pit structure and keeps the fire centered and even.

Once the fire is burning there are an abundance of options to utilize your Solo Stove Bonfire. From grilling to smoking to just keeping warm at night the Bonfire can handle a variety of tasks. Having the portability of the Bonfire makes this an optimal fire pit solution. Since owning the Bonfire I have been exclusively using this as my method to warm up a campsite or my backyard. Not to mention that when you’re at a campsite… you never know what was previously burned inside of the fire pit. People use different things to start a fire and those things can be harmful when burned and released into the air. Bringing your own fire pit ensure that you know exactly what was used and how it was burned.

The Bonfire generates unparalleled heat with utmost efficiency. Whether you need a fire pit for ambiance, warmth or grilling the Solo Stove Bonfire is the perfect solution!
